Letters to the Editor The Arizona Republic Phoenix AZ
Dear Editor:
The actions of Abdul Hamid [former name John Walker] do not constitute acts of treason. Treason is the act of waging war against the United States or giving its enemies aid or comfort. Under the Constitution, only Congress has the authority to declare war. Congress has not done so, and the United States has not been in a state of war since 1945 and is not in a state of war now. Since the United States only has "enemies" in time of war, he cannot possibly have been giving enemies aid or comfort.
Hamid never committed any crime within the territory of the USA, nor did he commit any act of war against the USA. There is no evidence that he had anything to do with the martyrdom of 11 September. If Hamid did in fact open fire on American soldiers, it was only to defend himself and extricate himself from unlawful imprisonment. Hamid joined the Taliban at a time when there were friendly relations between the Taliban and the United States government, and it was the Bush administration that chose to commit unconstitutional acts o war against the Taliban, rather than the Taliban committing any act of war against the United States.
Hamid is indeed innocent of any crime and deserves credit for bravely defending himself and his comrades and not surrendering until he was too badly wounded to continue fighting. Those who should be prosecuted are the president who has waged this unconstitutional war at the behest of Zionists, the Congress that has taken bribes from the AIPAC Zionist lobby to act in the best interests of Israel rather than of the American people, and the Zionist agents among us who profess to be loyal to both Israel and the USA.
Death to Israel! Death to Bush! Death to Congress!
Sincerely,
Kevin Walsh
